Parent group warns of ‘radical homosexual agenda’ in Minnesota’s Anoka-Hennepin schools
The Parents Action League is circulating a petition to the Anoka-Hennepin School Board asking it to maintain a policy that limits discussions of LGBT issues in the classroom. The petition comes as six students and their parents are suing the district over alleged persistent bullying in its schools and are requesting the policy be dropped. PAL’s petition asserts that LGBT people suffer “life-threatening health risks” and a flier by the group warns of a “radical homosexual agenda.”
The petition reads:
Whereas homosexual behavior exposes participants to many life-threatening health risks; and whereas the classroom environment needs to be solely focused on academics; Therefore, we the undersigned citizens of Anoka-Hennepin School District No. 11 do whole heartedly support and desire that the School Board adhere to the following statement in the AH District 11 Sexual Orientation Curriculum Policy: ‘Teaching about sexual orientation is not a part of the District adopted curriculum; rather, such matters are best addressed within individual family homes, churches, or community organizations. Anoka-Hennepin staff, in the course of their professional duties, shall remain neutral on matters regarding sexual orientation including but not limited to student led discussions.’
In addition, the group is sending out a flier asking for support for the group.
“If you are a taxpayer in the Anoka-Hennepin School District, please read the attached flyer,” an email sent last week said. “The Parents Action League (PAL) would really appreciate your support. Thank you. May God Bless You and keep you in His care.”
The flier reads:
ALERT TO PARENTS/CITIZENS IN ANOKA-HENNEPIN SCHOOL DISTRICT #11!
Do you want your tax dollars used to promote a radical homosexual agenda in our public schools?
On February 9, 2009 the Anoka-Hennepin District #11 School Board passed the Sexual Orientation Curriculum Policy (Neutrality Policy). This policy makes it clear that “Teaching about sexual orientation is not a part of the District adopted curriculum; rather, such matters are best addressed within individual family homes, churches, or community organizations. Anoka-Hennepin staff, in the course of their professional duties, shall remain neutral on matters regarding sexual orientation including but not limited to student led discussions.”
This policy strengthens the authority and rights of parents to direct the upbringing and education of their own children—especially on sensitive topics such as sexual orientation. The Gay Equity Team and other radical homosexual activists in our school district are fighting to overturn this policy.
You can help!
Go to www.parentsactionleague.org and sign the online petition. Tell your friends and neighbors in District 11 to do the same. Show your support to the School Board. Let them know we want them to maintain the Sexual Orientation Curriculum Policy so our classrooms stayed focused on core academics.

From its inception, PAL has advocated for “reparative therapy,” a type of counseling that alleges it can cure gays and lesbians of their homosexuality.
PAL spokesperson Barb Anderson, who also works with the Minnesota Family Council, recently told Americans for the Truth About Homosexuality, an organization that the Southern Poverty Law Center calls a hate group, that PAL is seeking the eliminate gay-straight alliances (GSAs) in the district.
“Because of the Equal Access act they feel that they have to allow this in the schools and they have not been able to put a stop to it, but there are parents getting organized and trying to plead the case that this really is harmful to students,” she said. “It is not providing them with healthy information. None of this is based on truth or scientific fact, especially if they are telling kids they are born this way.”
This article presents almost totally one-sided coverage, airing the views of the PAL but presenting almost nothing outside of it. I would expect at least some responses of others outside the group to be cited as well — even if it’s just a school board member’s “no comment” — to show that the reporter looked into the matter beyond just typing in a press release from the PAL. As it stands, except for the single link to another article, this article reads like nothing but free extra advertising for this organization and its petition. I expect better from the so-called Independent newspapers.

Definitively, if gay-bashing parents have a gay or lesbian child, then discussion of sexual orientation is not best left up to the gay-bashing parents. The gay-bashing parents of course are too blinded by their ignorance to even begin to understant that that is true. I’ve read some of the civil suit complaints against this school district; apparently, a student was silenced from continuing a class presentation after he said that homosexuals had been victims of the Nazis. What more does one need to know about these ignorant monsters?
