A right-wing group has announced it will “pressure states and localities” through lawsuits, if necessary, “to clean up voter registration rolls pursuant to Section 8 of the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA).” The group claims that several states have voters on their registration rolls who are ineligible to vote. Arkansas AG stops anti-abortion group from introducing ‘personhood’ bill

Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel has blocked the state’s Personhood affiliate from introducing a bill that would define life from the moment of conception, on the grounds that it is “too vague” as written. Though “fetal personhood” measures across the country have been criticized for that very reason, Personhood Arkansas leaders are now accusing McDaniel of having “pro-abortion” leanings.


Florida Race to the Top application rejected

Florida’s application for up to $100 million in early learning federal grant money was rejected today. According to a statement issued by Gov. Rick Scott, his insistence that the grant not come with “strings attached” did not “win the favor” of the agency awarding the funds.
