AMA Study: moderate marijuana use does not decrease pulmonary function

More signatures than needed gathered to introduce an amendment legalizing medical marijuana in Colorado

This morning, proponents of a statewide initiative to legalize and regulate marijuana submitted nearly 160,000 signatures in support of placing the measure on the 2012 ballot. Only 86,105 valid signatures of registered Colorado voters are needed to qualify. (more…)

Colorado to join other states asking feds to reclassify marijuana

Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chaffee and Washington Gov. Christine Gregoire have petitioned the federal government to change the schedule of marijuana under the Controlled Substances Act, a move they claim will remove the conflict between federal and state drug laws, which will in turn allow for the establishment of medical marijuana dispensaries. Colorado will file its own request before the end of the year. (more…)
