Trump's appearance in the 'Home Alone' sequel was cut in 2014, long before he took office, according to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
Donald Trump took aim at Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Thursday after the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation aired "Home Alone 2" over the Christmas holiday without Trump's cameo.
In a tweet, Trump blamed the removal of his appearance in the film on negotiations surrounding a trade agreement with the United States' neighbor to the north.
"I guess Justin T doesn't much like my making him pay up on NATO or Trade!" Trump tweeted Thursday night, referring to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Trump later tweeted that he was "kidding" when he said the movie "will never be the same" without his cameo.
While Trump's comments about the cutting of his cameo may have been in jest, his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., appeared to be genuinely aggrieved that the CBC cut Trump's appearance from the film in order to air ads.
In an Instagram post, Trump said it was "absolutely pathetic" that the CBC cut Trump's appearance, accusing the broadcaster of having "Trump Derangement Syndrome."

Absolutely pathetic. The liberal media like @cbc is where Trump Derangement Syndrome manifests itself fully. Imagine being so pathetic in your quest to attain some BS level of wokeness that you need to cut out a scene that is probably one of the the most famous cameos of the era? Imagine being so “triggered” that you can’t even leave a Christmas movie alone without editing. This is what we are up against in 2020, this is the filter by which most people receive their news. This is why it’s not a fair fight, but this is also why we will win. People see through this crap and are fed up of it. The media should go register as a lobbyist for the Leftists. Their bias is so flagrant they don’t even pretend to hide it anymore. They prove every day that they really are the enemy of the people.

However, there is no proof that the CBC cut Trump's appearance in order to be "woke" — a slang term about being aware of racism and social injustice.
On Thursday, CBC spokesperson Chuck Thompson explained that the cuts to the film were made long before Trump took office: "As is often the case with feature films adapted for television, Home Alone 2 was edited for time. The scene with Donald Trump was one of several that were cut from the movie as none of them were integral to the plot. These edits were done in 2014, when we first acquired the film and before Mr. Trump was elected president."
However, Trump Jr. accused the CBC of being "triggered" — something he wrote about in a book that made the New York Times' bestseller list because of bulk purchases from Republican groups such as the Republican National Committee.
"This is what we are up against in 2020," Trump Jr. wrote in Instagram. "This is the filter by which most people receive their news."
