GOP candidate loses it, accuses Marine vet supporters of hating God and country
It’s desperation time for Rick Saccone.
With just hours to go before the Pennsylvania special election, Republican state Rep. Rick Saccone is panicking in the face of Democratic opponent Conor Lamb’s surging supporters.
At a campaign rally in Elizabeth, Pennsylvania, Monday night, Saccone attacked supporters of Lamb, a Marine veteran who leads Saccone by six points going into Tuesday’s special election, as Godless America-haters.
“They’re energized for hate for our president, let me tell you.” Saccone told the crowd. “I’ve talked to so many of these on the left, and they have a hatred for our president.”
“And I’ll tell you, many of them have a hatred for our country,” Saccone continued.”And I’ll tell you some more — my wife and I saw it again today, they have a hatred for God.”
Saccone voted against puppies, it should be noted.
The outrageous claim that Conor Lamb’s supporters hate God and America reeks of mortal desperation, but even more devastating for Saccone is that he can’t even truthfully claim that Lamb’s supporters hate Trump. Many former Trump voters were among those who stood and uproariously cheered Lamb at a campaign stop this past weekend.
Saccone is right about one thing, though. Conor Lamb’s supporters are energized, and so are Democrats and independents across the country who can’t wait for November.
