Maxine Waters: 'When we finish with Trump, we have to go and get Pence'

Rep. Maxine Waters has been pushing for Donald Trump's impeachment from the very beginning. But she also knows Mike Pence would be just as dangerous and compromised as his boss.

The talk of impeachment has been slowly ramping up among Democratic lawmakers and around the country. But one person was there well ahead of everyone else.

California Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters knew from the very beginning that Donald Trump was unfit to be president, and that the Russians had a devious hand in getting him into office.

But of course, Trump was not the only name on that ticket. And if he was elected with the aid of foreign interference, then so was his running mate, Mike Pence.

And considering that Pence is far more beholden to right wing ideology than Trump likely is, has lied on multiple occasions regarding the Russia scandal, and that even prior to inauguration, he was already proving to be the most powerful vice president ever, the idea of removing Trump only to end up with President Pence does not sit well with much of the nation.

Nor with Waters, who was not shy about saying so.

On ABC's The View, Waters said loud and clear that Pence would be next in line for impeachment talk.

SARA HAINES: You have said that Vice President Pence is already planning his inauguration. Is that a joke or do you really think that?

WATERS: It was a joke! What I wanted to do was needle him a little bit.

JOY BEHAR: Do you think Pence will be better than Trump if he were impeached?

WATERS: No, and when we finish with Trump, we have to go and get Putin. He's next.

BEHAR: Putin or Pence?

WATERS: Pence!

BEHAR: We'll get two for one with Trump and Putin, then we gotta go after Pence.

Considering the American people like Pence even less than they like Trump, it's safe to say the voters would agree with Waters.

If Trump has to go, the man who made it to the White House only by latching onto Trump's coattails does, too.
