Donald Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, confirmed Thursday night on CNN that he asked Ukraine to investigate Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.

“Did you ask the Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden?” Giuliani was asked by CNN’s Chris Cuomo.

At first, Giuliani claimed that he did not. But in his explanation, Giuliani admits that he did, in fact, ask a Ukrainian government official to look into unproven allegations that Biden interfered in a Ukrainian investigation in 2016.

Cuomo followed up, asking, “So you did ask Ukraine to look into Joe Biden?”

“Of course I did!” Giuliani responded.

The topic of Giuliani’s involvement in pressuring a foreign government was known as early as May, when Giuliani canceled a trip to the Ukraine after it was revealed he was going there to ask for foreign interference in the 2020 election.

According to the Washington Post, Giuliani alleges that Biden, in his capacity as vice president in 2016, pressured Ukraine to stop a prosecutor from looking into a company where Biden’s son, Hunter, was on the board. There is no evidence to back up Giuliani’s allegation.

The story is back in the news now after a whistleblower from the intelligence community came forward with disturbing revelations related to a promise Trump made to a foreign leader, which the Washington Post reported involved Ukraine.

According to the law, the intelligence community must turn over the allegation to Congress, since an inspector general deemed the allegation both “credible” and “urgent.”

But thus far, the Trump administration has refused to comply with the law and is withholding the information from the congressional intelligence committees.

In the 2016 election, the Trump campaign often welcomed assistance from Russia, which actively interfered in that election to help Trump.
