Watch Congressman Steve Chabot suck up to unhinged Trump at Ohio rally
Chabot spent his week ignoring constituents, and kissing up to Trump.

Rep. Steve Chabot (R-OH) can’t be bothered to meet with his own constituents — but he did take time out for one of Trump’s vicious campaign rallies this weekend, where he embarrassed himself by cracking lame jokes and sucking up to Trump.
The rally was a stunning hate-fest. Trump riled up a crowd in Lebanon, Ohio, on Friday by praising confederate General Robert E. Lee, launching his usual racist attack on Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), and attacking women as a “mob” because they protested the confirmation of accused sexual predator Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.
About halfway through this disgraceful display, Trump brought Chabot to the stage. And Chabot spent his minute in the spotlight embarrassing himself.
After asking God to “bless” Trump, Chabot added, “And I never knew I’d say this, but God bless Kanye West.”
West, a rap superstar and avid Trump supporter, made a surreal visit to the White House this week that left many observers worried about his mental health.
Then, after a painfully unfunny joke about liberals and light bulbs, Chabot told the crowd that he wasn’t going to give his prepared speech after all.
“I just decided the more Steve Chabot you get, the less [Trump] you’re going to get,” Chabot said.
Democratic challenger Aftab Pureval, by contrast, spent his weekend talking to constituents, including at a local rally with civil rights icon Rep. John Lewis (D-GA).
Pureval’s grassroots appeal has turned the race in Ohio’s 1st Congressional District into a “toss-up,” even though Chabot won reelection by almost 20 points in 2016.
Chabot hasn’t held an open town hall with his constituents in six years. And just last week, he blew off repeated invitations to appear at the NAACP Cincinnati candidates’ forum.
But Chabot still found time to praise Trump policies that are hurting the residents of his district, and to act like a buffoon at Trump’s Friday rally.
Trump is the only “constituent” Steve Chabot seems to care about — and unfortunately for Chabot, Trump doesn’t get to vote in Ohio next month.
