Trump kept his distance from the city of London because the 'Trump Baby' blimp — and the thousands of protesters — made him feel 'unwelcome.'
Trump has now admitted that the "Trump Baby" blimp floating above London to protest his brief stay there prompted him to avoid the city.
Protesters received approval from the mayor to fly the blimp over London when he arrived for his first visit to the United Kingdom as president.
Organizers said the caricature of Trump, wearing a diaper, was intended to highlight that "Donald Trump is a big, angry baby with a fragile ego and tiny hands."
Trump is largely avoiding London during his visit, and the "Trump Baby" might be the key to it all.
In an interview with the right-wing Sun newspaper, Trump came clean about the effect the blimp had on him.
"I guess when they put out blimps to make me feel unwelcome, no reason for me to go to London," he said.
He added, "I used to love London as a city. I haven’t been there in a long time. But when they make you feel unwelcome, why would I stay there?"
He is unwelcome in London because he is so spectacularly bigoted. A scathing editorial published by The Scotsman Friday made that point as well, calling him "a racist" and "an appalling human being."
The U.K. condemned Trump's bigotry early in his presidency, when Prime Minister Theresa May publicly rebuked him for amplifying a racist message from the hate group Britain First.
Residents of the country are extremely aware of Trump's other racist actions and are as appalled as Americans are about them.
Thousands have turned out to protest in the streets to voice their opposition to Trump's visit, and are decrying May's decision to invite him.
The trip is not an official state visit and had to be downgraded to a "working visit" after public outcry against him. Trump is not holding public events in England, where he might have to face his detractors.
When he visited, there were no baby-themed blimps to scare him off from one of the most well-known cities in the world.
