Trump brags he almost bombed Iran but changed his mind in the last 10 minutes

Trump wants credit for coming to his senses and not starting a war with Iran at the very last minute.

Trump spent Friday morning boasting about his messy decision-making process on Iran, including waiting until planes were in the air to call off a strike.

“We were cocked & loaded to retaliate last night on 3 different sights when I asked, how many will die. 150 people, sir, was the answer from a General,” Trump wrote. “10 minutes before the strike I stopped it, not proportionate to shooting down an unmanned drone. I am in no hurry, our military is rebuilt, new, and ready to go, by far the best in the world.”

The tweets confirm reporting from multiple sources that Trump abruptly called off a strike against Iran on Thursday night.

“Officials said the president had initially approved attacks on a handful of Iranian targets, like radar and missile batteries,” the New York Times reported. Trump only ordered the military to pull back on the mission after “planes were in the air and ships were in position.”

Trump also touted his decision to scrap the Iran nuclear deal, insisting that the agreement “gave them a free path to nuclear weapons.”

Of course, the reality is that Trump’s decision has made the world less safe, endangering American interests and allies around the globe. Iran announced on Monday that they are increasing the production of uranium, a development that is unlikely to have happened with the deal in place.

This is just another instance of Trump’s chaotic approach to vital national security issues. He’s all too willing to put American service people in harm’s way and civilians in danger.
