News that NBC has fired longtime “Today” host Matt Lauer for “inappropriate sexual behavior” as more and more media outlets grapple with high-profile men behaving very badly, Donald Trump immediately jumped into the fray and lashed out at the television news network.

“Wow, Matt Lauer was just fired from NBC for ‘inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace,'” he tweeted. “But when will the top executives at NBC & Comcast be fired for putting out so much Fake News. Check out Andy Lack’s past!”

And then this:

“So now that Matt Lauer is gone when will the Fake News practitioners at NBC be terminating the contract of Phil Griffin? And will they terminate low ratings Joe Scarborough based on the “unsolved mystery” that took place in Florida years ago? Investigate!”

Basically, Trump, a sexual predator himself, is arguing that NBC and MSNBC be dismantled over the Lauer affair.

Trump did the same Olympian turn of hypocrisy when Minnesota Democrat Al Franken apologized for inappropriate behavior years before he entered the Senate — quickly turning a story of sexual misconduct into a story about Trump’s own record of harassment and assault.

Trump likely thinks he’s scoring partisan points with NBC. But lacking all self-awareness and occupying a fantasy world of denial, all Trump does with his taunting is highlight the fact he’s synonymous with sexual misconduct. During last year’s campaign, nearly two dozen women accused him harassment, assault, or misconduct.

On Wednesday morning, lots people on social media rushed in to remind Trump of that fact and mock him for ridiculously trying to call out NBC:

On the issue of sexual harassment and assault, Trump has become his hallmark train-wreck self, selectively picking and choosing which political party is guilty of offenses and which party should be given a pass because their accusers aren’t believable.

“He has praised women for coming forward after accusations were made against a Democrat, Senator Al Franken of Minnesota,” The New York Times noted. “But in the case of Roy S. Moore, a Republican candidate for Senate from Alabama, Mr. Trump has said he believes Mr. Moore’s denials that he behaved inappropriately with teenage girls, and he has effectively endorsed Mr. Moore’s candidacy.”

But Trump also denies all allegations against him, so he has to support Moore and the unnerving allegations against the Alabama Republican. In fact, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders has suggested that Trump deserves a pass on his long, graphic history of sexual assault because has never “admitted wrongdoing.”

Trump has smeared all of his many accusers as liars and threatened to sue them. Yet he doesn’t have the guts to follow through with his threat and go to court and let his accusers air the mountain of evidence against him.

Note that Trump was caught on tape bragging about assaulting women, telling “Access Hollywood” co-host Billy Bush, “It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything.”

But he’s now telling aides and acquaintances that his thinks the infamous “Access Hollywood” tape made in 2005 was doctored to make him look bad and that it doesn’t sound like him. He even urged a U.S. senator to launch an investigation into the matter.

We have a sexual predator in the White House. He doesn’t get to lecture anyone, ever.
