Recently revealed documents confirm the U.K. ambassador believes Trump is 'inept' at his job.
Trump is lashing out over newly disclosed communications from the U.K. ambassador to the United States describing Trump as inept and insecure.
"The ambassador has not served the U.K. well, I can tell you that," Trump complained to reporters on Sunday. "We're not big fans of that man and he has not served the U.K. well."
Secret diplomatic cables from Ambassador Kim Darroch published in the conservative British tabloid Daily Mail revealed the unflattering assessment of Trump that provoked the outburst.
The British Foreign Office did not dispute the authenticity of the ambassador's documents.
"For a man who has risen to the highest office on the planet, President Trump radiates insecurity," Darroch wrote about Trump in a June 2017 memo.
Darroch described the chaotic fashion in which Trump began his administration, rendering a verdict on a pattern of behavior that has echoed throughout the entirety of Trump's unpopular presidency.
"We don't really believe this administration is going to become substantially more normal; less dysfunctional; less unpredictable; less faction riven; less diplomatically clumsy and inept," Darroch wrote.
He even pointed to the corrupt behavior of Trump's presidential campaign.
"There could have been active collusion between individuals associated with the Trump campaign and Russian intelligence, especially over the timing of release of hacked emails from inside the Clinton camp," the ambassador said. "Dodgy Russian financiers may have bailed out the Trump and Kushner enterprises when both were at risk of bankruptcy in previous decades."
Noting Trump's attempts to impede the investigation into his 2016 campaign by special counsel Robert Mueller, Darroch said Trump's actions "might amount to obstruction of justice."
This pattern of behavior was of course later extensively documented in the Mueller report.
Darroch also said in a June 22 cable that Trump's Iran policy was "incoherent" and "chaotic," and did not expect it to become "coherent at any time soon."
Trump infamously called off a strike on Iran even as U.S. military planes were in the air. He has continued to demonstrate any kind of grasp on the diplomacy needed to handle the situation (which he escalated unnecessarily by scuttling the Iran deal).
The Darroch cables highlight another instance of Trump being openly humiliated on the world stage.
His own diplomatic team, then-Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, reportedly described Trump as a "fucking moron" last year.
World leaders have openly called his policies like the disastrous trade war "stupid."
Trump was even called out by the French government for his unwanted advice on how to deal with the fire at Notre Dame, pointing out that if they listened to Trump the entire cathedral would have collapsed.
The embarrassing leak verifies that at the highest levels of power Trump is regarded with the same disdain felt by millions of ordinary citizens. And Trump is just not up to the challenges of his pivotal position in any way at all.
